About us
We are an association of several villages and enthusiasts interested in history and castles, which are strung on the river Malše like beads on a thread. They were built in the Middle Ages and played, among other things, a guarding and protective role for the surrounding travellers. From the north are the castles of Velešín, Pořešín, Sokolčí, Louzek and the fortress in Tichá on the Czech-Austrian border.
The connecting element of all the castles, apart from the river, is the immediate proximity of the old, 215 km long Land Road from Bohemia to Upper Austria, which was started by the Czech king and Austrian duke Přemysl Otakar II. A total of 17 Czech and Austrian castles and chateaus were built along it.
Cooperation with Austrian castellans, restoration of castles and organization of events for the public is today the core activity of our association. We strive to create a pleasant environment for visitors with the opportunity to learn about our common history, and an oasis of peace in today's over-technicalised times.
Come hang out!
